Incredibly well put! I do not think this is exclusive for product folks but it’s def more the case. What you say about identity correlated with achievement I am sure resonates with a ton of people. And we are all in various stages of waking up to the cool aid capitalism and patriarchy. Thank you for sharing this ❤️
hi xenia! thank you so much! and you're absolutely right, this is definitely not exclusive to product folks. and it's a problem that can exist for everybody. but i am so so so so glad that a lot of us starting to demand better conditions for our lives.
"we’re setting up women for failure just by holding us to an unreasonable standard that isn’t even a real measure of success". 🫣 this applies to so much more than <<just>> work, don't you think Kax? It shook me, hard. I appreciate you sharing your story, and I feel very truly seen. There's many similarities between mexican and filipino culture, and it didn't occur to me that on this as well. For example, when some calls your name and you want to acknowledge it / reply: in English anywhere you would say "yes/yeah?", in Spain you would say "dime/diga" (tell me) but in Mexico to this day you would say "mande/mándeme" (as a short for mándeme usted, which has been used since times of colonialism and slavery to acknowledge one's master and him outranking you 🫠🫣). It's hard to step out of those shoes without being EXTRA intentional about it. Thank you for handing me this sock 🧦 (HP reference hehe)

Thanks for sharing your story! I don't mean to make things worse for women in product, but instead help young and aspiring PMs see the reality!
hi! thanks for sharing your perspective :)
and i absolutely did not think that there is any intention to make it worse for women in product. but i do think that:
1. the reality is highly contextual
2. and the context that this version of reality exists can be problematic.
there's also a great opportunity to encourage young and aspiring PMs to challenge this though ;)
We missed you and are glad to read things are getting better. Thank you for sharing your journey - a lot of us need a reminder that burnout is real.
Im back!!! I missed you all too! Thank you!!! ❤️
❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️
Just sending you a big hug! Being aware might be only the first step, but is also the most difficult one.
Thank you!! ❤️
